The University Area and Old Strathcona sit just across the river from downtown, about ten minutes away, and are some of the most walkable neighbourhoods in Edmonton. The University of Alberta anchors the area, and Whyte Avenue is lined with independent shops, cafés, restaurants and live music.
The Old Strathcona Farmers' Market runs every Saturday, the Fringe Festival takes over the streets each August, and Mill Creek Ravine and the river valley trails are on the doorstep. Homes range from character houses in Garneau and Strathcona to quieter family streets further south.
